Hi there, Al Reid here…
I’m glad you’ve shown up. That means you, like me, are trying to figure out where social media fits into the writing life.
You may see some of yourself in me when I tell you there was a time when I didn’t understand the power of social media. I had no clue how to target its effectiveness as a writer.
This time wasn’t too long ago.
I had a work published in an anthology.
Yeah, I was stoked.
Then, it quickly fell on me that I had no avenues to promote this book. This was my eye-opener.
What I mean is, like many writers, I had a single-minded focus, the writing.
My attention was on writing to the exclusion of everything else. Including social media.
Yes, writing is essential.
But here’s the situation. I was caught up in promoting a book while trying to come up to speed on social media.
That’s not a good combination. In fact, it’s not even fun.
During this, between my strong desire to understand social media and trying new strategies, things started to click into place.
I saw that I was getting traction.
I paid attention to what worked, both large and small.
My number of “the right kind of followers” was growing, and my influence doubled in a short amount of time.
I was getting results, my friend.
I’ll admit, at the time, my dive into social media was obsessive. I felt like it was an elusive code just waiting to be solved.
Now it’s different. I continue to write and invest small amounts of time each day in social media using the strategies that “clicked” for me.
And, you know what the next thing I found out?
Time and strategy build on themselves.
They deliver results.
In fact, the process becomes fun, which I think is a true measure of doing social media correctly as a writer.
Now, I want to kick the process up a notch.
I plan to share my insights about social media with other writers.
Why?
You see, I’m a big believer that by teaching others, I will learn more things, new things.
I still think social media for writers is that elusive code just waiting to be solved.
Do you want to stick with me for the journey?
